All Three Galaxy S26 Models Feature 10-Bit Display [U: Not True]

UPDATE (March 03, 2026): After initially stating that the Galaxy S26 lineup featured 10-bit displays, Samsung has since walked back that claim. The company has clarified that all three models use 8-bit panels, likely leveraging Frame Rate Control (FRC) technology to simulate 10-bit color and deliver smoother gradients.

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series brings a key display upgrade that takes the viewing experience to the next level. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra feature native 10-bit panels that show up to 1 billion colors per pixel. This should result in smoother gradients and more lifelike visuals in content.

While the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display is grabbing attention for keeping content hidden from prying eyes, the integration of native 10-bit panels is also a key upgrade. Last year’s Galaxy S25 series can record 10-bit HDR video, but the display remains limited to 8-bit. Thanks to the FRC (Frame Rate Control) technique, the panel can simulate a wider color range. Of course, this software-driven trick is a welcome move, but it likely misses out on the full potential of true color richness.
Finally, Samsung has addressed this limitation in its Galaxy S26 series. The best thing is that the company did not limit this improvement to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. No matter which model you pick — the S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra — you can take advantage of the native 10-bit panel. For the uninitiated, unlike an 8-bit screen that can display about 16.7 million colors, a 10-bit panel supports 1.07 billion colors. As a result, the 2026 Galaxy S flagships should offer smoother gradients in high-quality content.
Speaking of other display specs, Galaxy S26 features a 6.3-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, while Galaxy S26+ boasts a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen. The Galaxy S26 Ultra uses a larger 6.9-inch QHD+ panel for a more immersive experience. All three displays support 120Hz refresh rates for a smooth scrolling experience. These models are now available for pre-order through the company’s official online store.
