Samsung Emerges as the Dream Company for Young Koreans

Samsung has a strong following in its home country, South Korea. It is a national powerhouse with global influence. From semiconductors and smartphones to displays and consumer electronics, the company is a leading name in most tech sectors. Unsurprisingly, young Koreans want to work at Samsung more than any other firm.
Young Koreans pick Samsung as their dream employer
A recent survey of 10,986 college students, job seekers, and office workers revealed that Samsung is the dream employer for young Koreans. When asked which major conglomerate they would prefer to join if annual pay were the same across companies, Samsung ranked first with 32% support, well ahead of its rivals. SK Group followed at 19%, while CJ Group and Hyundai Motor Company tied at 12%.
What makes this result especially noteworthy is Samsung’s trajectory. In a similar survey in 2024, Samsung did not even place in the top 10. It rebounded the following year to capture fourth place and has now surged to No. 1 in this latest ranking. The turnaround suggests a meaningful shift in perception, particularly among Generation Z and early-career professionals.
When respondents were asked why they chose Samsung, the top reason was brand and image, cited by 44%. Other factors included:
- Welfare and employee benefits
- Growth potential
- Global company status
- Working environment
- Stability
- Industry of interest
- Organizational culture
The data shows that, for many young Koreans, Samsung represents scale, prestige, and future-proof growth. The company ranked first among both new hires (32%) and experienced professionals (33%). It also showed overwhelming preference across all academic majors.
Kim Jung-hyun, head of the Catch Division at Jinhak, explained that Samsung’s return to the top is rooted in two key elements: brand power and perceived growth potential. For a generation increasingly focused on long-term development, global exposure, and corporate reputation, the company appears to have successfully repositioned itself as the most desirable workplace in Korea.
