One UI 9 Spills the Beans on the Galaxy Z Wide Fold

It looks like Samsung will once again unveil three foldables at its summer Unpacked event, and one of them could be the Galaxy Z Wide Fold. It may launch alongside the usual Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. As the name suggests, it will be a wider, passport-style foldable, which also means a new form factor.
Folks over at Android Authority did some digging and found references to the Galaxy Z Wide Fold. One code string in the leaked One UI 9 firmware mentions “isWideFoldModel,” which is fairly strong evidence that Samsung has something like this in the pipeline.
Feast your eyes on the Galaxy Z Wide Fold
Details are still scarce, but considering that the 2026 foldables are expected to debut with One UI 9 out of the box, the timing lines up. That’s not all. We also get what appears to be our first official look at the Galaxy Z Wide Fold. Leaked animations show the device both closed and unfolded.

The animations suggest a noticeably wider outer display, which could make it more usable when folded shut. We expect more such animations and leaks to surface in the coming weeks as we get closer to the official unveiling of the 2026 foldable lineup. There are still plenty of unanswered questions surrounding the Wide Fold.

What processor will it use, and how will Samsung position it in the lineup? Will it sit alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as an equal flagship, or will it come with slightly toned-down internals to hit a different price point?
Then there’s the camera system. Will Samsung reuse the setup from the Fold 8, introduce new sensors, or make compromises to accommodate the wider chassis? And perhaps most importantly, will this new form factor allow room for a larger battery, something users have been asking for?
