Google Wallet’s Search Feature Finally Spotted in the Wild

If you’re using a Galaxy phone, you might be relying more on Samsung Wallet than Google Wallet these days. Still, Google Wallet remains important for plenty of services, passes, and payments, and over time it tends to fill up with way more stuff than just your cards. That makes finding a specific pass or transaction harder than it needs to be.

Google Wallet’s new search could finally fix its biggest annoyance

Google has been working on a proper search feature for Wallet for a while now, and it looks like things are finally coming together. We have been hearing about the Google Wallet’s for a long time. And now the latest version shows a much more complete and usable experience.

According to Android Authority, the new search UI can be manually enabled after updating to Google Wallet v26.3.856536501. When active, a magnifying glass icon appears in the top-right corner of the app. Tapping it opens a search page that shows your recent searches along with suggested items you might want to find quickly.

One of the most useful suggestions is recent transactions. Right now, Google Wallet only shows a limited transaction history inside each individual payment method, usually capped at the last 10 payments. With search, it looks like users may finally be able to look up older transactions without switching between cards and accounts.

This could also tie into Google’s recently announced plan to bring shared transaction history across devices. The goal is to keep your Wallet activity in sync across all your phones and tablets. While Google hasn’t confirmed that this new search feature will cover that combined history, it would make a lot of sense if it does.

Moreover, the search screen also hints at Google’s newer Material 3 Expressive style, with rounded boxes and clearer separation between items. It’s a small change, but it does make the interface look cleaner and easier to use. And you may know it already that Google is still applying M3 touches to certain sections of some apps.
