Samsung to Release Galaxy S26 Early to Avoid Friday the 13th

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 launch timeline is starting to come into focus. While the company has yet to officially announce the dates, a new report from Korea confirms earlier rumors of an official unveiling on February 25, followed by a market release on March 11, 2026. Pre-orders are expected to open immediately after the Unpacked event, which is likely to be held in San Francisco, USA.

Galaxy S26 will arrive early because Samsung doesn’t feel lucky

Samsung typically unveils its new flagships on a Wednesday, with sales beginning on the third Friday after launch. Going by that pattern, a February 25 launch (which is a Wednesday) for the Galaxy S26 series would normally point to a March 13 release.

However, Friday the 13th is widely viewed as unlucky in many Western markets, and Samsung reportedly wants to avoid debuting its most important smartphones of the year on that date. As a result, the company is intentionally moving the launch forward by a couple of days, targeting March 11, which also falls on a Wednesday.

This date has surfaced in earlier reports as well, making it increasingly likely to be final. As usual, customers who pre-order early may receive their devices a few days ahead of the official retail release. With preorders possibly beginning on February 25 in most markets, expect deliveries to start in the first week of March.

Unfortunately, Galaxy S26 preorders may not come with the same perks as before. Rising component costs are eating into Samsung’s margins, forcing it to cut some perks, including the popular double storage benefit.
