Samsung has begun rolling out the January 2026 security update for the Galaxy A56, starting with its home market of South Korea. As usual, the update should gradually expand to more regions over the coming days and weeks. It brings fixes for more than 50 security vulnerabilities.

Galaxy A56 is the latest to receive Samsung’s January 2026 update

The new firmware for the Galaxy A56 focuses entirely on security. It bundles the January 2026 Android security patch, which fixes dozens of vulnerabilities affecting the Android OS and Samsung’s own software layer. The Korean firm has already rolled out these fixes to many other Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

There are no new features, design changes, or performance tweaks included in this release, which is no surprise. The Galaxy A56 will receive One UI 8.5 later this year with several new features. Samsung is currently beta testing the new OS build, with a stable release expected with the Galaxy S26 series next month. A wider rollout for existing devices may begin in March or April.

In South Korea, where the Galaxy A56 is known as the Galaxy Quantum 6, the January security update arrives as an over-the-air (OTA) package with the firmware build number A566SKSS4BZA2. Samsung should soon roll out the new security fixes to the global version of this phone. Of course, the build number and file size may vary in other markets.

A successor is on the way

While Galaxy A56 remains one of Samsung’s high-value smartphones, it will soon be overshadowed by the Galaxy A57. Samsung may launch the 2026 model in the first half of February, offering notable improvements in specs, features, and performance, while making the phone more compact and lighter. The Galaxy A57 may be accompanied by the Galaxy A37 out of Samsung’s doors.
