Galaxy Ring Setup Fails in Galaxy Wearable App? Try This Fix

Are you unable to complete the setup of your new Galaxy Ring using the Galaxy Wearable app? Well, you are not alone. Several Galaxy Ring users appear to have reported that the setup process gets stuck, preventing them from connecting the device to their smartphones. The good news is that Samsung has found the cause of the issue and shared a fix.
Samsung explains why the Galaxy Ring setup stops in the Galaxy Wearable app
For the uninitiated, setting up the Galaxy Ring for the first time is an easy process. You just need to place the Galaxy Ring inside its charging case and open the case near your smartphone. A connection pop-up then shows up on the phone screen, letting you pair the smart ring through the Galaxy Wearable app. Now just follow the on-screen instructions, and the setup should end with a confirmation screen.
However, it looks like some Galaxy Ring users run into problems during this process. In a community post, a Samsung moderator wrote, “We have confirmed that when connecting the Galaxy Ring via the Galaxy Wearable app, the setup process may stop at the setup completion screen and not proceed.” The moderator also said that you can fix the issue by turning off the Reduce Animations setting in your phone settings.
So, it is a software bug rather than a hardware concern with the Galaxy Ring. While the Reduce Animations prevents visual effects on dialogues and menus to make them easier to see, it can also interfere with the Galaxy Wearable app. When this option remains enabled, the app may struggle to complete all the setup steps.
To disable the Reduce Animations setting, open the Settings app on your smartphone and then go to Accessibility. Now, select Vision enhancements and turn off the Reduce Animations toggle. Once done, you can try setting up your Galaxy Ring using the Galaxy Wearable app. Meanwhile, Samsung is also preparing an update to the Galaxy Wearable app that will fix this issue. So make sure you keep your app up to date.
