Latest Sound Assistant Update Adds Bluetooth Equalizer Support

Samsung has rolled out a new update for Sound Assistant, the Good Lock module that lets users fine-tune audio behavior on Galaxy devices. The update bumps the app to version 8.2.00.4 and introduces a meaningful change: your Galaxy phone’s system equalizer settings now carry over to connected Bluetooth speakers.

Sound Assistant update 8.2.00.4 brings a useful feature

This Sound Assistant update isn’t exclusive to One UI 8.5 but is also available for Galaxy devices running One UI 8. According to the official changelog, the new version includes the following:

• Buzz Icon Applied
• SESL 8.5 Applied
• Apply equalizer settings when connecting via Bluetooth

It isn’t immediately clear what Samsung means by “buzz icon,” as we couldn’t find anything as such in the new version. There were no obvious visual or functional differences compared to the previous version of Sound Assistant. The second entry in the changelog likely refers to updates in the design framework, introducing full support for One UI 8.5.

The third change is where things get more interesting. With this update, Sound Assistant now applies your custom equalizer settings when audio is routed through Bluetooth devices. Earlier, the equalizer settings defaulted to Balanced when you connected your Galaxy device to a Bluetooth speaker. But the latest update keeps your custom equalizer settings.

To install the latest version of Sound Assistant, go to Good Lock and tap the Update icon next to the app. Alternatively, you can go to the Galaxy Store, tap the hamburger menu in the top-left corner, select Updates, and install all pending updates. Samsung appears to be rolling out the update globally, so availability may vary slightly by region.

Sound Assistant 8.2.00.4 isn’t a major feature-packed release. However, the improved Bluetooth equalizer behavior should be a welcome tweak for users who care about consistent audio tuning across all their devices.
