The Galaxy S26 Ultra could be getting a more meaningful camera upgrade than earlier leaks suggested. According to a fresh tip from a reliable industry insider, the device may not stop at improving the 200MP main camera alone. Instead, Samsung is reportedly widening the aperture on both the primary sensor and the 5x telephoto camera.

Galaxy S26 Ultra tipped to feature wider lenses for two rear cameras

Leaks have long pointed to a wider aperture for the 200MP primary camera on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung is widening the lens from an f/1.7 aperture to f/1.4. Additionally, there has been some chatter that the 50MP 5x telephoto lens will also have a wider aperture, going from f/3.4 to f/2.9. Ahmed Qwaider, one of the most accurate Samsung leakers out there, now confirms it.

While these numbers may look minor on paper, aperture changes of this scale can have a noticeable impact on real-world photography. A wider opening on the lens allows more light to reach the sensor, which brings several benefits. Most notably, it improves the low-light camera performance and noise reduction. You may also get faster shutter speeds, helping reduce motion blur in indoor and evening shots.

Additionally, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could capture cleaner zoom photos at night. Telephoto cameras usually struggle after sunset, so a jump from an f/3.4 aperture to f/2.9 on the 5x lens could be particularly significant. If Samsung pairs these hardware changes with its already strong computational photography, the new flagship could deliver a noticeable leap in night and low-light zoom photography.

As always, these details remain unofficial for now. Still, Ahmed Qwaider has a solid track record, especially when leaks surface closer to launch. If this tip holds up, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera upgrades may end up being more substantial than initially expected.
