Over the past few days, Samsung slowed down One UI 8.5 testing activity. Now, things are picking up again. The first One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy M53 has appeared on the official test servers, marking the start of internal testing for the device.

Galaxy M53 shows up with its first One UI 8.5 test build

Earlier, the Galaxy A53 surfaced with a One UI 8.5 build, and now it is the Galaxy M53’s turn. We have spotted the first test build on servers in Europe with firmware version M536BXXUDHZA2. As usual, this does not mean the update will roll out anytime soon. It simply confirms that Samsung has started testing the upcoming software internally for the device.

Samsung launched the Galaxy M53 with Android 12 out of the box. The company originally promised two Android OS upgrades, taking the device up to Android 14. However, like a few of its siblings, the Galaxy M53 received updates beyond expectations. It is now running Android 16 with One UI 8, and One UI 8.5 is expected to be the final feature update for the phone.

Other Galaxy M series devices that have already surfaced with One UI 8.5 test builds include the Galaxy M56, Galaxy M54, Galaxy M34, and Galaxy M17. The Galaxy M33 should also appear with a One UI 8.5 build in the coming weeks.

Samsung is expected to debut the stable version of One UI 8.5 next month alongside the Galaxy S26 series. The One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series is already live in select regions. For eligible devices, the stable rollout should begin shortly after the S26 launch.

If your device received One UI 8, it will most likely get the One UI 8.5 update too. We will keep you posted as Samsung tests the firmware for more devices. Meanwhile, you can check the list of devices for which a One UI 8.5 build has appeared here.
