Samsung is reportedly working on a useful new camera feature for its Galaxy smartphones. A fresh leak reveals that One UI 8.5 will bring a manual White Balance option in the Photo mode of the default Camera app. This will give users more control over photo colors while fixing common white balance problems, particularly when taking pictures indoors.

Samsung tests White Balance in One UI 8.5 photo mode

Last week, Samsung kicked off its One UI 8.5 beta program for Galaxy S25 series users in select regions, including the US. However, it looks like the company is also testing internal builds simultaneously, which include several new features. One such feature has recently come to light thanks to the noted tipster @UniverseIce.

According to the tipster, the latest version of One UI 8.5 (likely referring to the most recent internal build) adds manual White Balance adjustment functionality to the Camera app’s Photo mode. As of now, the app offers this feature only in Pro mode, meaning casual users must switch to Pro to adjust color temperature. By bringing it to the standard shooting mode, Samsung wants to make it easier to use for day-to-day photography.

The new manual White Balance option shows up in the four-dot menu in Photo mode. Tapping it lets you adjust the warmth or coolness of the photos manually. However, as of now, the feature is not fully functional as adjusting it does not change the photo’s colors. This is understandable, as it is still in development.

Meanwhile, Samsung is reportedly gearing up to begin the second round of One UI 8.5 beta updates for Galaxy S25 users. The update could bring further refinements, bug fixes, and activate features currently under internal testing, including the manual White Balance control. The second beta could also bring back popular camera features like Dual Recording and Single Take (which were missing in beta 1) through the Camera Assistant app.
