Samsung has almost completed the One UI 8 rollout. All eligible devices have received the update except for one tablet. At the same time, Samsung already seems to be preparing for the One UI 8.5 beta release. The first beta build appeared on the test server today.

Samsung gears up for One UI 8.5 release as the One UI 8 rollout comes to an end

The One UI 8 rollout is now essentially complete. Every eligible model has received the Android 16 based update except the Galaxy Tab A9+. The smaller sibling, Tab A9, has received the update, however. This means it’s the only remaining device and Samsung may release the update in the coming one or two weeks. Yesterday, Samsung rolled out the update for multiple models including the Galaxy A16 4G, Galaxy A15 4G and Galaxy A24 in Korea. The update should expand to other regions soon. This marks an important step toward closing the rollout.

One UI 8.5 expected release timing

The first One UI 8.5 beta build has been spotted on Samsung’s test servers today. It is for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung’s latest flagship lineup. The beta has appeared in regions including India, Europe, Korea and the United States. The build information for the Galaxy S25 is S931BXXU7ZYKP. The beta build has appeared for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This follows Samsung’s usual pattern of offering the beta only to the main flagship models. The Galaxy S25 Edge and the Galaxy S25 FE may likely not receive the beta program.

Samsung normally starts the beta program shortly after the first build appears on the server. As of now, the One UI 8.5 Samsung Community Forum has not been created. The company will set it up once the beta release date gets closer. The One UI 8.5 beta will allow Galaxy S25 users to try the new software early. Meanwhile, the stable One UI 8.5 update is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026 at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event.

A few other devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 may also receive the One UI 8.5 beta later, after the Galaxy S25 series. However, no beta build has been spotted for them yet, so nothing can be confirmed at the moment.

One UI 8.5 expected changes

One UI 8.5 is expected to be a major update in terms of additions and visual changes compared to One UI 8. The scale of changes is similar to what we saw with One UI 7 last year. The update brings a fully customizable quick panel, an improved screen recorder and a redesigned Game Booster with a new layout and more features. The overall look of One UI also gets a noticeable refresh.

Many system apps such as Settings, Phone, My Files and Samsung Internet receive layout and design improvements. Device Care gets an updated interface along with the Call Dialer. One UI 8.5 may also introduce the Prioritize Notifications option and Now Bar support for more apps, expanding the Live Activity style experience across Samsung’s apps and third party apps. Overall, One UI 8.5 is shaping up to be one of the biggest and boldest updates in the One UI lineup.
