Samsung has updated its SmartThings app for iPhone, bringing some useful improvements. The update makes the company’s smart home appliances easier to control for Apple users. You can download the latest version of the app from the App Store.

Samsung makes smart home management easier for Apple users

Samsung’s SmartThings app lets you control smart home devices in one place, regardless of brands. With this update, the company makes home management more convenient, mainly for iPhone and Apple Watch users. One of the notable new features is Siri Shortcut support that lets you trigger SmartThings routines with simple voice commands. For the uninitiated, routines are automations that execute a set of actions when certain conditions are fulfilled.

Now that Siri Shortcut is supported, you can enjoy SmartThings routines hands-free, making day-to-day tasks more efficient. For example, you can say “Hey Siri, good morning” to turn on the lights and start the coffee machine. Likewise, a “Leaving Home” routine can lock your doors and activate your home alarm.

Furthermore, the update also improves Apple Watch functionality, letting you view their full list of SmartThings devices. You can also send commands and trigger routines right from your wrist. The connected SmartThings Apple Watch app also supports device groups, making it easy to adjust your smart home settings.

Meanwhile, the Live Activities feature on iPhone shows up to five recently used devices. These include air conditioners, robot vacuums, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, and more. This will definitely help you access the devices you use often conveniently.

SmartThings is not just for Samsung smart home appliances — it supports more than 250 brands. The platform recently introduced thread network unification for greater interoperability across ecosystems. It creates a single mesh network to improve connectivity, reliability, and coverage. Moreover, Samsung launched SmartThings Pro, a new safety solution for businesses, to offer management services for different commercial spaces.
