We have stepped into a new month, and that means the end of the road for some Galaxy models. Samsung has officially pulled support for five Galaxy smartphones and one rugged tablet that reached the end of their update lifecycle last month. While these devices will continue to function normally, they will no longer receive new security patches or Android updates. Meanwhile, Samsung has promoted the Galaxy S21 FE 5G to monthly updates from its quarterly schedule.

Six Galaxy devices reach the end of their update lifecycle

Starting this month, Samsung will no longer push new updates to the following Galaxy devices:

  • Galaxy S20 FE
  • Galaxy S20 FE 5G
  • Samsung W22 5G
  • Galaxy Tab Active 3
  • Galaxy M52 5G
  • Galaxy M22

The Galaxy S20 FE lineup marked Samsung’s first Fan Edition release back in 2020, combining flagship features with an affordable price tag. After receiving five years of software updates, the company has now retired both LTE and 5G versions. Likewise, the Samsung W22 5G, a luxury Chinese variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, has also reached its end of life in terms of software updates.

The Galaxy Tab Active 3, Samsung’s rugged tablet built for enterprise and field use, has also been dropped from the support list after completing its planned support period. Last but not least, the Galaxy M22 and Galaxy M52 5G, two mid-range models released in 2021, have completed their four-year update cycle and are no longer eligible for security patches.

While these devices are unlikely to receive updates going forward, they remain fully functional. However, users are advised to upgrade to a newer model as soon as possible to ensure the strong security of their data. The Galaxy S25 FE serves as a strong upgrade option for S20 FE owners, offering modern hardware and up to seven years of software updates.
