Samsung Addresses One UI 8 Battery Drain Complaints

As Samsung expands the One UI 8 rollout to more Galaxy devices, some users have raised concerns about faster battery drain after updating. The company has now responded to the complaints, suggesting no confirmed issues with battery performance at this time. We also haven’t observed any unusual battery drain in our own experience with several Galaxy devices running One UI 8.
Samsung responds to complaints about battery drain in One UI 8
A handful of users on online communities claim that their Galaxy phones are losing battery charge more quickly after installing One UI 8. Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 models are among the affected devices. Similar reports have also surfaced from some Galaxy Watch users, though the extent of the issue seems to vary widely depending on device model and usage habits.
In response, Samsung explained that battery behavior can fluctuate temporarily after a major software update. When a new version of One UI is installed, the system reoptimizes apps, reindexes data, and recalibrates background processes. All of this can consume extra power for the first few days. As these optimizations complete, battery life typically stabilizes on its own.
“Battery consumption is affected by multiple factors, such as updates to installed apps, changes in device usage environments, or usage patterns,” an official statement reads (via Chosun). The company asked users to share more details if they notice severe battery drain even after a couple of weeks.
You can share detailed feedback through the Samsung Members app. This allows engineers to review system logs and determine whether the issue requires a specific software fix. So far, only a limited number of users have reported higher battery consumption after installing One UI 8, suggesting the issue isn’t widespread. Still, it’s worth keeping an eye on, and we’ll update you if any broader pattern or fix emerges.
