It’s no secret that Samsung will adopt a dual-chip strategy for its upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Some units will use the company’s in-house Exynos 2600, while others will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, depending on the region. A fresh report now reveals that around 30% of Galaxy S26 units (planned for next year) will use the next-gen Exynos mobile chip.

Exynos 2600 low yield could limit Samsung’s wider dual-chip ambitions for the Galaxy S26 series

The Galaxy S26 lineup will likely include three models — the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Of course, there were rumors about an additional Edge variant, but the company has reportedly scrapped the plan due to sluggish sales of the current Galaxy S25 Edge model.

An earlier report suggested that all flagship S26 models will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in key markets such as the United States, Japan, and China, while the Exynos 2600 will power units sold in Europe and other global regions. However, the company appears to have limited the Exynos 2600’s deployment mainly to its home country, South Korea (via TrendForce).

Samsung has begun mass production of the Exynos 2600 using its 2nm manufacturing technology. The initial output of the flagship Exynos chip is reportedly around 15,000 wafers. This figure represents roughly 30% of the total Galaxy S26 production capacity planned for next year.

The reason behind this limited output is the low yield (around 30%) on Samsung’s advanced 2nm process. Note that the current yield for Exynos 2600 is reportedly around 50%. The yield should improve in the coming months as the firm refines the 2nm process.

Samsung initially planned to power some models of its current Galaxy S25 series with the Exynos 2500 chipset in select markets. However, low yields and other issues led the company to drop its plan and instead opt for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip across all models globally. Hopefully, the same situation won’t repeat with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.
