Galaxy Z TriFold Patent Reveals Its Folding Mechanism, Three Batteries

Samsung is gearing up to launch its Galaxy Z TriFold by the end of this year. We already have a pretty good idea of how the tri-fold folding mechanism works, thanks to early leaks. Now, a patent application has come to light, showing what could be the actual design and internal layout of the device.
Here’s the possible internal layout of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold
It’s no secret that Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold will adopt a G-shaped design with two inward-folding hinges. Unlike the two-part design of the Z Fold series, the upcoming TriFold will feature three sections. A patent application published by KIPRIS (via Galaxy Club) in South Korea last month shows a similar concept, suggesting that the actual device design may follow this patent.
As you can see in the images below, when folded, both outer sections fold inward toward the middle section, with the left section folding first. This transforms the tablet-like device into a compact form with a cover screen, similar to a slab-style phone. Furthermore, this design uses one wide hinge and one narrow hinge, allowing the phone to fold in a G-shape.
Speaking of the internal layout, we can see that the Galaxy Z TriFold features three batteries, one in each section of the device. More importantly, the dimensions of all three batteries are different, allowing the other components to fit within the device’s structure. This suggests that the tri-fold may exceed a total battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. The reason for the assumption is that the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with a capacity of 4,400 mAh with only two batteries.
We can also see the rear camera island, which appears to be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Unfortunately, the patent did not reveal any key details about the Galaxy Z TriFold. The good news is that you won’t have to wait longer, as the company may debut the device at the APEC Summit, running from October 27 to November 1 in Gyeongju, South Korea. We will let you know when we have more information about the device.
