Four iPhone 17 Features Samsung Should Copy — #3 Is a Must

Last month, Apple launched the iPhone 17 series with impressive new hardware and software upgrades. While Samsung’s Galaxy S series has dominated in areas like 120Hz OLED displays for years, Apple has introduced several features that Samsung should seriously consider for its future flagships. In particular, these four standout iPhone 17 features could elevate the Galaxy S lineup.
1. High-resolution cameras across the lineup
Samsung’s base Galaxy S phones still use 10MP and 12MP sensors for telephoto and ultrawide cameras, while Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup has upgraded to 48MP ultrawide and telephoto cameras, even on the base model. Samsung could follow suit by introducing 48MP–50MP sensors for ultrawide cameras on all Galaxy S models. Smaller models should feature a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, while Ultra variants retain 50MP telephoto with 5x zoom, ensuring premium imaging across the board.
2. Square-Format Selfie Camera Sensor
Last year, Samsung upgraded the front camera from 10MP to 12MP. Apple has taken a bigger leap with an 18MP front-facing camera featuring a square sensor similar to the GoPro Hero 11. This design allows users to capture portrait and landscape photos or videos without rotating the phone, making it perfect for social media content. Samsung could benefit from adopting a similar square-format selfie sensor, improving versatility and user experience for creators.
3. Faster Charging for All Galaxy S Models
This is a feature Samsung must copy. Currently, only the Plus and Ultra Galaxy S models support 45W fast wired charging, while the base and Edge models are stuck at 25W. Apple’s new iPhones, including the ultra-thin iPhone Air, now support 40W fast charging. It’s time for Samsung to standardize 45W or higher wired charging across all Galaxy S phones. Pairing this with Qi 2.2 wireless charging and magnetic alignment would bring the series fully in line with modern expectations.
4. Anti-Reflective Screen Across All Models
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra introduced an anti-reflective screen that received widespread praise for reducing glare and improving outdoor visibility. Unfortunately, this technology didn’t make it to the Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Edge — it remains an Ultra-only feature. Apple, on the other hand, included an anti-reflective ceramic shield on all its new iPhones, including the base iPhone 17. It’s a simple yet highly practical feature that Samsung should extend across all Galaxy S models, not just the Ultra.
Apple may not lead in display refresh rates or customization like Samsung, but the iPhone 17 lineup has raised the bar in practical features that improve daily usability and performance. If Samsung wants to stay competitive and keep Galaxy S users happy, adopting these four features would be a smart move. The camera upgrades are unlikely for the Galaxy S26 series, but maybe we’ll see faster charging and an anti-reflective display across the 2026 lineup.
