A few things have changed for the better in 2025. Samsung rolled out the One UI 7 update with the Galaxy S25 series after a long hiatus, and a few months later it released the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 foldables. Fast-forward to today: the One UI 8 rollout is complete, and now we’re eagerly counting down the days until the One UI 8.5 update.

Samsung is skipping the minor x.1 or x.1.1 updates in favor of a more significant x.5 update. If the pattern holds, Samsung will likely continue with the same schedule: the S series will receive One UI x.5 updates, while the Z series will get entirely new software. That’s a glimpse of what we might expect going forward. But for now, you’re probably wondering whether your Galaxy device is eligible for the One UI 8.5 update.

Which Galaxy devices will be receiving One UI 8.5 update?

In short, since both One UI 8 and One UI 8.5 are based on Android 16, any device eligible for the One UI 8 update should naturally qualify for One UI 8.5 as well. Hopefully, Samsung won’t change this course. From what we know, the Galaxy S26 series will run One UI 8.5, but what about other devices? Here’s a quick list to look for yours.
