Leaked One UI 8.5 Build Includes References to One UI 9.0!

Samsung has just started rolling out the One UI 8 stable update, with many devices still waiting their turn. In the meantime, a leaked One UI 8.5 build is already circulating, giving us an early glimpse of what lies ahead. It also highlights something that may be expected, yet remains noteworthy.

First signs of One UI 9.0 surface in One UI 8.5 code

Of course, we all know what comes after One UI 8 or even One UI 8.5. The next major release will be One UI 9.0, based on Android 17. According to SamMobile, the leaked One UI 8.5 build already contains references to this upcoming version, pointing directly to One UI 9.0.

At this stage, however, those references stop short of providing any technical details. We don’t yet know what design changes, system-level improvements, or new features Samsung has in store. That said, the timeline gives us some clues.

Recently, major One UI versions arrive on Samsung’s foldable flagships first, and if the company sticks to its established pattern, One UI 9.0 could make its debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. These devices are likely to launch around July next year, which means the update itself is no closer.

Until then, Samsung’s focus remains on completing the rollout of One UI 8 and prepping One UI 8.5. For now, One UI 9.0 is nothing more than a name hidden in code. Of course, we’ll be sure to tell you as details emerge. Until then, stay tuned.
