Samsung to Follow Up XR Headset Launch with Tri-Fold and Smart Glasses

Samsung is gearing up to introduce three exciting new products: an XR headset, a tri-fold smartphone, and XR glasses. However, these products will not go official together at a single event. Instead, the Korean firm reportedly plans a staggered rollout, beginning with the headset, followed by the remaining two devices.

We recently learned that Samsung may unveil its first XR headset via an online event on October 21, with sales beginning right away. While this will be the company’s most exciting product, its tri-fold and XR glasses are also highly anticipated. Unfortunately, you will have to wait a little longer for these devices.

According to a report from ETNews, the tri-fold will debut in a separate event, likely by the end of next month or in November 2025. Meanwhile, the XR glasses may hit the market in early 2026.

Samsung’s current foldable lineup includes two types of devices: a clamshell and a book-style, under the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series. The company now plans to introduce a new form factor with two hinges and three folding sections. It may call the device either the Galaxy Z TriFold or the Galaxy G Fold.

An earlier report suggested that Samsung plans to produce around 50,000 units of the tri-fold device in its initial batch. This is 10 times lower than the number of units Samsung shipped for the original Galaxy Fold when it first launched in 2019. The reason is that the company wants to see market response before proceeding to larger production volumes.

Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing to debut its first XR-based smart glasses in collaboration with Google. We already saw its demo at the Google Developer Conference in May 2025. The glasses are lighter and more practical than the bulkier XR headset, reportedly weighing about 50 grams. Furthermore, with a camera and microphones, the Gemini AI assistant can see and hear the world to give you information. More details are awaited.
