Samsung Rolls Out First Update for Galaxy A17, A06 Tags Along

Samsung has started pushing the September 2025 security update to the Galaxy A17, a budget 5G phone launched last month. This is the first software update for the device. The latest security patch is also available for the entry-level Galaxy A06 5G, following an earlier release for the 4G model.
Galaxy A17 and A06 5G grab Samsung’s latest security update
Debuted last month, the Galaxy A17 is eligible for six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security patches. The first of those updates is now rolling out in the form of the September 2025 security patch, which addresses over 80 vulnerabilities across Android OS and One UI components. The update is currently available in India with the build version A176BXXS2AYI4 (thanks, @KeepUPwithOneUI).
The 250MB release doesn’t appear to bring anything more than the latest security fixes, at least not on the user-facing side. It may contain a bootloader upgrade for enhanced security, but no new features or functional improvements are in tow. The Galaxy A17 is yet to hit store shelves globally, but the September update should soon be available in other markets where it’s sold.
These security fixes are also available for the Galaxy A06 5G, a relatively older and more affordable 5G offering from Samsung. The update is rolling out with the build version A066BXXS3AYI2, carrying an OTA (over the air) firmware file of approximately 300MB. The changelog confirms no additional changes.
Both of these phones debuted with One UI 7 and are in the pipeline to receive One UI 8 later this year. However, unlike the Galaxy A17, the A06 is only eligible for four major OS updates. That’s still industry-leading update support in the entry-level segment. If you use any of these Samsung smartphones, head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates manually.
