Samsung Pushes Key App Updates Ahead of One UI 8 Launch

Samsung may have ramped up its preparations for the big One UI 8 update expected later this month. The company just released a wave of updates to its on-device apps and resource packs, a move that often precedes a major firmware release. We still do not have a release date for One UI 8, though.
Galaxy Store updates hint at imminent One UI 8 rollout
Among the latest updates are language resource packs for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. These packs are critical for features like real-time translation, transcription, and other Galaxy AI-powered tools. Samsung typically refreshes them just before pushing a new software version, ensuring compatibility with upcoming system changes.
The company’s Vision Model, a system app or model for on-device generative AI solutions, also picked up a big update. If history is any indication, these behind-the-scenes updates mean the Android 16-based One UI 8 stable build is only weeks — if not days — away. While it isn’t as massive a leap as One UI 7, the new version brings meaningful refinements.
Most notably, One UI 8 brings improvements to Samsung DeX, Secure Folder, Quick Share, and Samsung Internet. You can also expect UI refinements and smoother system animations. The rollout will begin with Samsung’s newest flagships, the Galaxy S25 series, in September. Other eligible models will follow shortly. Samsung should update all eligible Galaxy Smartphones and tablets to One UI 8 before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, users can install the latest updates for language packs and the Samsung Vision Model. Head over to the Galaxy Store > Menu > Updates to grab the new versions. Tapping “Update all” will install every available update in one go. Since these apps are typically large in size, you should connect your phone to an unmetered Wi-Fi network before downloading the updates to avoid incurring unwanted data charges.
