No 60W Boost? Galaxy S26 Ultra Certified with 45W Charging

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra has been rumored to receive a long-awaited charging upgrade to 60W, a step up from the 45W support offered on its predecessors. However, new evidence suggests that this boost may not happen after all. The handset has just been certified with an unchanged 45W charging speed, with the S26 Edge and S26 Pro limited to 25W speeds.

Galaxy S26 Ultra may disappoint with “slow” charging
A fresh regulatory certification in China lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra with 45W charging support (10V/4.5A or 15V/3A), the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra (thanks, @KeepUPwithOneUI). While this certification specifically applies to the phone’s Chinese version (SM-S9480), there’s little chance we will get faster charging elsewhere.

For the uninitiated, Chinese smartphone makers often push charging tech to the extreme, with many flagships boasting 100W or even higher charging speeds. Typically, China gets the best specs, while global models sometimes scale back. But in this case, the Chinese variant showing 45W strongly hints that a 60W global version is unlikely.
The charging situation adds to a growing list of disappointments around the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Earlier leaks suggested the phone’s new 3x zoom camera might actually be a downgrade, swapping in a smaller sensor despite a slight resolution bump, which Samsung isn’t even utilizing to its full potential. Now, the rumored charging upgrade looks set to fizzle out as well.
If these reports hold true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feel like a modest refresh rather than the big leap fans expect from the next-gen flagship. With rivals offering much faster charging and more aggressive hardware improvements, Samsung’s strategy appears to be conservative.
The Galaxy S26 series won’t debut until 2026, but Samsung may have already finalized all specs and design. It must be preparing for mass production now, so it looks like the upcoming Ultra flagship may once again top out at 45W charging, leaving power users hoping for more. Worse yet, the S26 Edge and S26 Pro may top out at just 25W charging.
