Galaxy S26 Ultra’s weight difference with its predecessor may be negligible

Ice Universe recently shared that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could weigh around 217 grams, which is hardly any different from the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review), which weighs about 218 grams. For those not aware, that’s just a 1-gram difference. Do you really think it will make any noticeable impact? I certainly don’t.

In fact, the weight difference was much more significant when comparing the Galaxy S24 Ultra to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The S24 Ultra weighed about 233 grams, while the S25 Ultra came in at around 218 grams, which means a reduction of over 15 grams or roughly 6.5 percent. Sadly, it looks like the same pattern will continue with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra.

It’s also worth noting that these Ultra phones have never been designed to be lightweight. Even if you think removing the S Pen would make a big difference, it simply will not. The stylus, which fits inside the phone, weighs only about 3 grams. Most of a phone’s weight comes from the battery and chassis, along with other materials.

So, for anyone expecting the Galaxy S26 Ultra to be a bit lighter, that is not going to happen. If weight is your priority, you might want to consider the Galaxy S26 Edge, which could weigh the same or even less than 163 grams. The current Galaxy S25 Edge weighs about 163 grams, and given the trend, the upcoming model is likely to be lighter as well.
