PSA: Galaxy Store Will Be Down for In-App Purchases on Sept 17

If you’re planning to pick up something from the Galaxy Store, you might want to do it ahead of time. On September 17, Samsung will pause in-app purchases and subscriptions for about an hour while it upgrades its payment system. If you’re looking to buy, subscribe, or take advantage of a promo, make sure you get it done before the maintenance window starts.
You can still download apps, but Galaxy Store purchases won’t work September 17
Samsung says the one-hour downtime on September 17, from 5PM to 6PM PDT, will only affect in-app purchases, new sign-ups, and certain promotions. The rest of the Galaxy Store will keep working as usual. You’ll still be able to install and update apps, but payments will be temporarily offline.
This is the third confirmed Galaxy Store downtime in the past four weeks. On August 11, Samsung’s operations team announced a three-hour suspension scheduled for August 18. Later in the month, the company confirmed a full server shutdown for August 26, which ended up being the biggest disruption so far. That one lasted nearly three hours and took down the entire service, including the web storefront.
Here’s what Samsung says you won’t be able to do during the upcoming downtime:
- In-app purchases and participation in certain promotions will be unavailable.
- Subscription-related features will be unavailable (new sign-ups, plan changes, cancellation of existing subscriptions, re-subscription, and renewal agreements).
- Games and ongoing subscription services will remain available without interruption.
- Purchases of regular paid content (such as paid apps, themes, and fonts) will remain available.
- Promotion points (payback) from activities completed prior to maintenance will be credited sequentially after the maintenance.
