Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE ship with Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box. While the software feels polished despite beta testing still running in parallel, a serious bug has surfaced. The Do Not Disturb (DND) feature isn’t working as intended, and it could cause users to miss important calls, messages, alarms, and notifications.

One UI 8 users report a serious DND bug

Several Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 users recently reported that their DND preferences reset automatically. If they configured DND to allow calls and messages from select contacts, notifications from specific apps, and alarms to always ring, the settings revert to default after some time.

This isn’t just an inconvenience; it could mean missing important calls or reminders. The Do Not Disturb feature is a daily-use tool for many Galaxy users, helping them manage calls and alerts without cutting off essential communications. With preferences failing to save, the feature’s reliability is compromised — and for some, this could have serious real-world consequences.

Interestingly, Samsung’s fifth One UI 8 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series patches this DND reset issue. However, the company hasn’t released any such patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, or Flip 7 FE. Since this appears to be a widespread problem, we hope the Korean firm has taken notice and is working on an update.

Until the update is here, you wouldn’t want to rely on DND on your new foldable. If you must use the feature, double-check your preferences periodically to avoid missing out on something important. Given that a fix already exists for the Galaxy S25’s beta build, it’s likely Samsung will roll out a patch for foldable devices soon. The September security patch for these devices could fix the issue. We will let you know when we have more information.
