Google Photos Conversational AI Editing Coming to Galaxy Devices

Galaxy users, get ready to welcome a new AI editing feature in the Google Photos app. This tool will let you enhance photo quality simply by describing the edits you want to make using voice prompts. As of now, it is available for Pixel 10 and will be rolling out to other Android devices, including Samsung, over the coming weeks.

A few weeks ago, Google redesigned the photo editor in its Photos app. The goal is to make editing quick and easy for anyone, regardless of your editing expertise. You get helpful editing suggestions and all-powerful tools in one place. When you tap or circle specific parts of an image, the editor will show a bunch of suggestions, such as erasing a distraction.

With the latest update, the company is bringing conversational editing capabilities to the photo editor. It uses Gemini to help you make custom AI-powered edits in just seconds. This eliminates the need for manually selecting tools or adjusting sliders. Instead, you can simply describe what changes you want the editor to make.

For example, you can ask to “remove the cars in the background” or “restore this old photo”, and the AI will understand your request. On top of that, you can make multiple edits at once through a single prompt like “remove the reflections and fix the washed-out colors.” If you have no idea what to add in the prompt, simply say “make it better” and then use follow-up instructions to fine-tune your image.

In addition to enhancing image quality, the AI can also help with more creative edits. For example, you can change the background of your photo and add fun items like a party hat or sunglasses to the main subject. For transparency about edits, Google Photos now supports C2PA Content Credentials, which provide details on how an image was captured or edited. Keep an eye out for this fantastic new update
