Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE Official with Galaxy AI Features, Battery Boost

Samsung is adding a new affordable option to its Galaxy Buds lineup. The company just announced the Galaxy Buds 3 FE, which will be available for purchase two weeks later on September 4. This pair borrows a lot of the AI smarts and sound tech from Samsung’s higher-end buds, but comes in a fresh design and a lower price.
Galaxy Buds 3 FE are finally out in the US!
These earbuds have hardly been a secret. Their existence was confirmed sometime ago via an app teardown, which revealed the model numbers of Galaxy Buds 3 FE and Galaxy Buds Core, both of which fall in the same lineup as the original Galaxy Buds FE. While Samsung’s official press release sent to the media doesn’t note the model number, it should be RM-420. Here’s a quick look at specifications.
- Battery: 53mAh (earbuds), 515mAh (charging case)
- Microphone: 3 Mics
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.1, Auto Switch
- Sensors: Hall, Touch, Pressure Sensor
- Water resistance: IP54
The Galaxy Buds 3 FE are the first in the lineup to use what Samsung calls a “blade” design, which originally debuted with the Buds 3 flagship series. The stems have a dual-tone matte finish with semi-transparent details, giving them a more playful and modern look. The overall design is similar to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, thanks to the presence of a rubber tip. The FE model will ship in Black and Gray colors.
Pairing is quickest with Galaxy devices, and Auto Switch support means audio can hop between a Galaxy phone, tablet, PC, or even a TV without interruption. Voice features are built in too, with Google Assistant and Samsung’s Galaxy AI Interpreter app for live translation while traveling.
Inside, Samsung has fitted larger drivers for deeper bass and clearer treble. Active Noise Cancellation is included, while a repositioned microphone setup should help keep calls intelligible on busy streets. Controls run along the stems: pinch to skip tracks, swipe for volume.
Battery life lands at six hours with ANC on (8.5 with it off), and up to 24 hours total when counting the case. The buds are IP54 rated for dust and water resistance, and they’ll work with Android devices running version 11 or later. The battery capacity is the same as the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
Samsung priced the Buds3 FE at $149.99, putting them below its premium earbuds and $50 above the original FE. You can also save up to $30 with a trade-in. Sales kick off on September 4 through Samsung’s website.
