Earlier this week, Samsung rolled out the One UI 8 beta update to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in the US and select other markets. If you decided to skip the beta program and wait for the official release, the company still has a new update for you. It is pushing the August 2025 security patch to the foldable duo.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 get the August 2025 update in the US

Samsung began rolling out the August security patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 a few days ago in South Korea. The update is now making its way to US units, with both carrier-locked and unlocked variants receiving it across the nation. The rollout covers devices on all major carriers, including Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T.

As mentioned, this release is separate from the ongoing One UI 8 beta program, which recently opened for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 in the US, UK, Korea, and India. Instead, it’s aimed at users who haven’t jumped into the beta, bringing the latest security fixes and improvements to system stability. This month’s release contains nearly 50 vulnerability patches.

The August 2025 update for the US Galaxy Z Fold 6 units carries firmware versions F956USQS2BYGB (locked) and F956U1UES2BYGB (unlocked). Those for the Flip 6 are F741USQS2BYGB and F741U1UES2BYGB, respectively. The package weighs in at roughly 300MB, depending on the model and carrier version. You can check for updates from Settings > Software Update > Download and install.

For those eager to try new features, the One UI 8 beta is still open in eligible markets via the Samsung Members app. Look for the banner about the beta program and follow the on-screen instructions to register your device (Galaxy S24 is also eligible). Then, follow the steps above in the Settings app to download the beta update.
