Samsung Celebrates 15 Years of Solve for Tomorrow With New Global Themes

Samsung is celebrating 15 years of its global education program called Samsung Solve for Tomorrow (SFT). This year, the company introduced global themes into the program to strengthen its role in addressing universal challenges. It has recently shared the program’s journey through the infographic, highlighting its evolution and key achievements.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a global education program in the form of an open competition. In this competition, youth use STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills to solve community issues and build analytical skills. It gives participants hands-on design thinking training to guide them at every stage of innovation. This includes defining problems, generating ideas, developing prototypes, validating solutions, and more.

SFT now operates in 68 countries, allowing youth around the world to gain essential practical and creative problem-solving skills. As of the end of 2024, more than 2.89 million students have participated in the program. The program saw over 400,000 proposed ideas worldwide.

Speaking of the platform’s journey, Samsung initially launched Solve for Tomorrow in 2010 in the US as an essay competition. In 2013, it expanded to Asia, evolving into a team-based competition with students and teachers. By 2014, the program expanded to Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Panama, and Peru. In 2016, the Korean firm introduced its Design Thinking (DT) approach.

The program further expanded to the Middle East in 2019, starting with Israel and followed by Turkey in 2020. In 2020, the platform held its first online competition to offer DT classes and virtual mentoring to participants. By 2023, it expanded to Africa, starting with South Africa. Starting in 2025, SFT launched global themes that focus on Environmental Sustainability via Technology and Social Change Through Sports & Technology.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has also received multiple awards for excellence in corporate social responsibility (CSR). In 2018, it achieved the New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award for corporate leadership in the US. The program won the CRN Channel Award for best CSR project in the UK in 2022. Furthermore, in 2023, it became the Top 3 in the Blue Book of Corporate Social Responsibility in China.
