Finally! Galaxy S26 Ultra to Break Samsung’s 45W Charging Limit

Samsung may finally break its long-standing charging speed ceiling next year. A fresh leak suggests the Galaxy S26 Ultra will surpass the 45W limit, making it the fastest-charging phone the company has ever released. While the exact wattage remains unclear, this marks a major shift in Samsung’s approach to fast charging.

Galaxy S26 Ultra to get a massive charging boost

For six generations straight — from the Galaxy S20 Ultra to S25 Ultra — Samsung’s top-tier flagships have been capped at 45W wired charging. This limit applies across the broader Galaxy lineup too, from foldables and tablets to mid-range phones. Despite ongoing user demand for faster charging speeds, the company has largely remained indifferent. That, however, may finally change next year.

According to trusted tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is “100% confirmed”  to surpass the long-standing 45W cap. It will “achieve the fastest charging speed in Samsung’s history,” the tipster said. Their comments suggest the next Ultra will offer 60W or faster wired charging. It’s unclear if wireless charging speed will also get a boost next year. The S25 Ultra supports 15W wireless charging.

If true, this move would finally bring Samsung closer to rivals like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Vivo, many of whom offer 80W to 120W charging — or even faster — in their flagships. Even Apple may increase iPhone charging speeds soon. While the Korean firm has made great strides in battery efficiency and software optimization, charging speed has largely remained stagnant.

Whether this change will apply only to the Ultra or extend to the Galaxy S26 and S26 Edge (there may be no S26+ next year) remains unclear.
