Home Up Gets Major One UI 8 Update with Customization Upgrades

Samsung has finally released the One UI 8 version of its Home Up module within the Good Lock suite. Version 17.0.00.28 of the app is now rolling out to One UI 8 devices via the Galaxy Store. It brings several enhancements to home screen customization and overall usability.

Part of the Good Lock suite, Home Up allows Galaxy users to personalize their phone’s home screen, including animations. The new release retains all the core features introduced with One UI 7 and adds new options. We get major updates across four main areas: DIY Home Screen, Home Screen tools, Edge Panel, and Gesture Settings.

With DIY mode, users get more control than ever, including features like Item Group Editing, Item Edit Lock, and a Floating Toolbar for quick access. You can even lock your edits to prevent accidental changes. Samsung has also introduced Sticker Actions within DIY, offering new interactive ways to personalize the home screen.

One of the standout additions is the ability to remove the Page Indicator and enable horizontal scrolling on the Home Screen — handy for landscape use. Additionally, Home Up has been more tightly integrated with One UI 8’s interface. A long press on various UI elements like app icons, app groups, or even the recents screen now reveals direct access to Home Up customizations.

Home Up for One UI 8 also adds new tools to the Apps and Recents screens, including layout controls, background color options, grid size adjustments, and more. For the Edge Panel, users can now choose how apps open (in full screen or pop-up view), improving multitasking.

Finally, a long-requested feature has arrived: App Launch Animation customization in the Gesture Settings section. This lets users adjust how apps animate when launched, adding an extra layer of visual polish. Samsung is gradually rolling out Home Up v17.0.00.28 for all One UI 8 devices, which currently include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, Flip 7 FE, and the Galaxy S25 series.
