Dummy Galaxy Z Fold 7 Gives Us a Glimpse of What’s Coming

We’re inching closer to the July Unpacked event with each passing day, and every new leak suggests the wait for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be well worth it. Samsung will officially lift the curtain on its latest lineup on July 9 in New York. But it looks like someone has already revealed a Galaxy Z Fold 7 “dummy” ahead of schedule.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy shows off the shockingly thin design

According to reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure just 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. That means it will be remarkably thin for any foldable on the market. Samsung has been highlighting this in its teasers lately, and for good reason. We’re clearly in for a big upgrade.

A recent video by Korean YouTuber TheSINZA shows what is believed to be a dummy unit of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. The video compares the Fold 7 with the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (review), which was only released in China and Korea. The dummy unit appears thinner and lighter, possibly weighing just 215 grams, making it noticeably lighter than the Fold SE, which weighs 236 grams.

Moreover, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy is about 9mm thick, slimmer than the Fold SE’s 10.6mm. While it looks similar to the Fold6 SE from the front, it differs from the regular Fold 6. The volume and power buttons remain in the usual position but look slimmer. The device was also compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and both have a similar thickness.

Other than these obvious design changes, we’ll see some huge improvements under the hood. Most obvious will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy SoC, which marks a huge leap. Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will also run Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box.
