After a lot of speculation regarding the launch window of Samsung’s first Android XR headset (codenamed Project Moohan), we may finally have an exact date. The Korean firm will reportedly unveil the headset on September 29 at its domestic Unpacked event. It could go on sale in the Korean market starting October 13, with the global market to follow later.

Samsung’s XR headset may launch in Korea this September

While Samsung has teased its XR headset multiple times, the company has kept most details — such as the price, key specs, and release date — under wraps. Google mentioned that Samsung’s XR headset will launch later this year, leaving users guessing the launch date. More recently, a leak suggested that Samsung would unveil the headset at the upcoming July Unpacked event. However, that turned out to be only partially true, as the firm may only showcase the headset without revealing much about it.

Thankfully, a fresh report by Newspim has now revealed Samsung’s plans, claiming that the official unveiling will take place on September 29 at the Unpacked event in South Korea. Unsurprisingly, the device will initially be available for purchase in the Korean market only, starting October 13, just a few days after the launch.

The good news is that Samsung also plans to launch its XR headset in global markets, including the US. While the publication did not mention an exact date for global availability, we expect Samsung to begin rollout in early 2026. Since this is a completely new type of device in the company’s product portfolio, the Korean firm may wait for user responses before expanding further.

In case you are not familiar with Samsung’s XR headset, the Korean firm has teamed up with Google and Qualcomm for the project. Built on Google’s Android XR operating system, the XR headset will likely feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip paired with 16GB of RAM. It might use Sony’s OLEDoS panel, which is 1.3 inches in size and has a pixel density of 3800 PPI. We will let you know if more details emerge in the coming weeks.
