Samsung offers powerful health features to its Galaxy Watch users for free. However, that could change in the future as the Korean firm is reportedly considering paid subscription plans. As of now, Samsung has not shared any pricing, but it’s clear that it aims to offer deeper health insights through premium plans.

Samsung reportedly plans a premium health subscription for the Galaxy Watch

Samsung offers a bunch of health and fitness features, such as blood oxygen level check, sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and more. With the latest One UI 8 Watch wearable software, the company promised to further enhance its health management platform. It has introduced four new features: Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, Running Coach, and Antioxidant Index.

Bedtime Guidance helps you to optimize sleep patterns while Vascular Load measures stress on the vascular system during sleep. Likewise, Running Coach delivers personalized training strategies, and Antioxidant Index measures carotenoid levels in your body. These advanced health features suggest that Samsung has put more effort into making them available for its Galaxy Watch users.

Now it looks like Samsung is planning to offer these newly released capabilities, as well as other older advanced features, through a premium plan. Dr. Hon Pak, Samsung’s senior vice president and head of digital health, recently told CNET that the company is exploring a premium subscription model. It will be similar to Fitbit Premium or Garmin’s new Connect Plus, meaning you will have to opt for a monthly subscription to access advanced features.

The publication believes that Samsung will offer these features for free with the new Galaxy Watch. However, if you are using an older Galaxy Watch, you may need to subscribe to a paid plan to access advanced health monitoring capabilities. It will be interesting to see if Samsung introduces its premium plan with the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 next month.

Meanwhile, Samsung is gearing up to roll out the One UI 8 Watch beta update for eligible Galaxy Watch users later this month. This will allow users to get the taste of new health features ahead of the official release.
