Samsung has released the June 2025 security patch for one more Galaxy device. This time, the update is rolling out to the Galaxy S24 FE. The new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for this Fan Edition phone is currently live in South Korea, with other regions expected to follow shortly.

Galaxy S24 FE grabs the June 2025 security update

Every month, Samsung rolls out dozens of security fixes to Galaxy devices. These SMRs contain patches for both Android OS and One UI flaws. The latest, June 2025 release, addresses over 60 vulnerabilities affecting various system apps, services, and components. Samsung has already updated several Galaxy devices to the June security patch, and one more joins the party.

The Galaxy S24 FE’s June 2025 update in Korea carries the firmware build number S721NKSS4BYE1. Alongside the 60+ security fixes, the update contains a bootloader upgrade for the phone — the fifth digit from the last in the build number denotes the bootloader version. The May release had the build number S721NKSS3BYDF, so Samsung has bumped the bootloader version from 3 to 4 this month.

A new bootloader upgrade usually means system-level security changes that prevent users from rolling back to a firmware build with an older bootloader. In other words, Galaxy S24 FE users cannot return to the May build after installing the June 2025 update. Sometimes, it also signals the nearing launch of a major update. Maybe Samsung plans to release One UI 8 beta for the S24 FE, though changes are slim.

Launched in late 2024, the Galaxy S24 FE is Samsung’s most recent Fan Edition smartphone. The device debuted with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14 and has already received One UI 7 (Android 15) as its first major OS upgrade. It is eligible for seven generations of OS upgrades, i.e., until Android 21 (One UI 13). One UI 8 should be available for the phone within the next few months.
