Samsung is Already Testing Galaxy S25’s Stable One UI 8 Update

Samsung seems to be in high gear this year. After a rocky One UI 7 rollout, the company is making sure Galaxy users get a much smoother experience with One UI 8, based on Android 16. The One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series kicked off last month, and a new beta build is expected soon. Meanwhile, Samsung may already be deep into stable build testing behind the scenes.
Samsung starts testing stable One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 lineup
A stable One UI 8 firmware build (BYF4) for the Galaxy S25 series was recently spotted on Samsung’s servers. This doesn’t necessarily mean Samsung is close to rolling out the stable update. However, it’s a clear sign the company is gearing up for the official release. It should announce the One UI 8 update in the first half og July, shipping it out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
If all goes well, the Galaxy S25 series may receive the stable update just weeks after the announcement, giving users a taste of Android 16 sooner than expected. We expect the rollout to begin sometime in August, with other models joining the party shortly afterwards. This will be the first major OS upgrade for the Galaxy S25 lineup. The phones launched earlier this year with One UI 7 onboard.
This will also mark a remarkably fast turnaround after One UI 7 faced months-long delays. Samsung released the Android 15-based update for older models in April 2025. If it manages to drop One UI 8 just four months later, it would be a massive confidence boost for long-term Galaxy owners who rely on Samsung’s software commitment as a key reason to stay loyal. Some exciting times are ahead for Galaxy fans. Stay tuned for the official date for the next Unpacked event.
