Samsung Teases “Smarter” Camera on Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ahead of Launch

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 aren’t far off from launch, and Samsung can’t stop teasing the former. While the company’s tight-lipped about potential upgrades coming to the latter, it’s been dropping hints about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 every now and then. In a blog post today, Samsung revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s camera will be “smarter.”

Looks like we’re in for a camera upgrade with Galaxy Z Fold 7!

If you were expecting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera specs from Samsung, you won’t find them here. Samsung doesn’t explicitly mention what upgrades are coming our way. But the blog post is full of buzzwords, hinting that something’s in the pipeline. One clear takeaway is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will house a triple-setup camera on the rear. That’s pretty much par for the course and wouldn’t count as an upgrade just yet, since the predecessor also comes with three cameras on the back.

“As AI evolves from text-based prompts to multimodal understanding, Galaxy devices are becoming smarter — able to get what you’re looking at and respond to situations,” Samsung says. “The camera is at the heart of this transformation. More than just a tool for capturing images, coupled with enhanced AI-powered features, the Galaxy camera is now part of the intuitive interface that turns what users see into understanding and action.”

That’s a pretty vague statement, but we’ll need to read between the lines. It comes amid rumors that Samsung could bring a 200MP shooter on the back of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Maybe that’s why Samsung is hyping up the Fold 7’s camera while keeping the details under wraps.

Samsung has already added AI smarts for recognizing objects and understanding what’s around you in its devices. For example, the Galaxy S25 series introduced Gemini Live, which lets users show their surroundings to the AI and talk about them. This new teaser perhaps shows that Samsung plans to make AI work even better with the foldable’s cameras.

Whatever the case, it won’t be long before we find out. We might see the upcoming foldables debut in about a month. Samsung will host the Unpacked event in New York. Going by the rumors, there are two probable dates for the launch. Based on that, we’ve made guesses on when reservations and retail sales will kick off.
