Samsung Rolls Out June Update for Galaxy S25, Hints at One UI 8 Beta 2

Samsung has begun rolling out a significant new software update for the Galaxy S25 series. While the update is primarily about the June 2025 security patch, it also hints at One UI 8 Beta 2. The phones are getting an updated bootloader, signaling a nearing release of a fresh beta build. This update is currently rolling out in South Korea, with a wider release expected in the coming days.
Galaxy S25’s June 2025 update hints at One UI 8 Beta 2
The latest update for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra running One UI 7 (not One UI 8 beta) introduces a new bootloader version. For those unfamiliar, a bootloader is the foundational program that runs when you turn on your device. It involves a crucial security measure that prevents users from downgrading their device’s firmware to a version with a lower bootloader version than the one currently installed.
The June 2025 firmware release for the Korean Galaxy S25 trio comes with the build number S93*NKSS4AYE5, which means bootloader version “4” — the fifth digit from the last indicates the bootloader number. It’s an upgrade since the May release, which carried the build number S93*NKSS3AYDF.
Now comes the interesting part. The new firmware brings the public bootloader version up to match the one used on Samsung’s latest internal One UI 8 beta builds. This alignment is critical; it means that users who install the upcoming second One UI 8 beta will have a seamless path to roll back to the stable One UI 7 if they encounter issues, as the bootloader versions will now be compatible.
Of course, the update also brings the 60-odd security fixes part of Samsung’s latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release). We will keep an eye on the ongoing developments and let you know as soon as Samsung expands the June 2025 update to more regions or rolls out the second One UI 8 beta build for the Galaxy S25 lineup.
