Samsung has officially rolled out One UI 8 beta, giving users an early glimpse at its next-gen software. Based on Android 16, this update introduces several new features and user-focused enhancements. However, it also comes with a familiar caveat: Good Lock compatibility issues. Several Good Lock modules do not work in One UI 8, while a few may misbehave.

Good Lock and OS updates don’t always mix, and it’s no different with One UI 8 beta

Good Lock is Samsung’s powerful customization suite that lets Galaxy users tweak everything from the lock screen and navigation bar to multitasking behavior and notification layouts. But with each new Android version, some Good Lock modules break temporarily, especially during early beta releases. One UI 8 beta is no exception.

This is because of the major changes Samsung makes to the system with these big updates. Samsung typically disables or limits some Good Lock features during Beta testing to prevent critical system issues. Since One UI 8 is built on Android 16, which itself is still in development, many modules need to be rewritten or adapted to the new APIs and system behaviors.

We can confirm that several key Good Lock plugins are broken in One UI 8. Some modules are partially functional, while others do not work at all, including QuickStar, NavStar, MultiStar, and NotiStar. If you rely on these Good Lock apps to personalize your Galaxy device, consider holding off on One UI 8 beta, or brace yourself for some hiccups.

It may take Samsung weeks or even months to address the issues to make Good Lock work properly in the new One UI version. The company should release additional beta builds in the coming weeks, but the stable build may not arrive until July. One UI 8 will ship out of the box in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7.
