It’s official: One UI 8 beta program has now begun. It’s somewhat surprising that Samsung decided to take this step in the middle of the One UI 7 rollout. However, if you’re a regular SammyGuru reader, you probably saw this coming. Now that the Android 16-based One UI 8 beta is running on the Galaxy S25 series, some new features are starting to emerge. One of them is that One UI 8’s My Files app now lets you see where you downloaded a file from.

Samsung’s My Files in One UI 8 makes finding downloaded files faster

Whether My Files or Files by Google should be your preferred choice, we’ve already discussed that in a separate article. But now, My Files includes a feature that might make some Files by Google users a bit jealous. For instance, we often download a bunch of files or choose to store them locally. But keeping track of them can be a tedious task. My Files in One UI 8 aims to make that much easier, and it does a pretty good job.

We’ve also shared a complete and detailed One UI 8 changelog that outlines all the changes. There are plenty of new features, including a few that we revealed early on. As spotted by Android Authority, My Files now has a great addition: it lets you filter files based on the app that was used to download them. We’ll likely see more such improvements in the coming weeks. The One UI 8 beta has just started rolling out, which means there are still a few rounds to go before things stabilize. Currently, the beta is available in only a handful of countries, but that could expand soon. Additionally, Samsung has now officially confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will launch with One UI 8 out of the box.
