Samsung will soon launch a new book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The upcoming model looks a lot different from its predecessor, thanks to a taller, wider, and thinner design. We have fresh visuals showcasing the size difference between the Fold 6 and Fold 7.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 looks different from its predecessor
According to leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a dimension of 158.4 x 143.1 x 3.9mm (8.9mm thick when folded). In comparison, the Fold 6 measures 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6mm (12.1mm). As you can tell, the upcoming foldable is nearly 5mm taller, 10.5mm wider, and 1.7mm thinner (3.2mm thinner when folded). The images below (originally posted on X) visualize the size difference between the two.
Alongside bigger screens, Samsung has reportedly reduced bezels around the display for a more immersive viewing experience. These images may not accurately reflect the bezel width, but a reliable industry insider recently revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s inner display has a bezel width of 1mm, compared to the Fold 6’s 1.9mm wide bezels.
Since the new model is thinner, Samsung must have redesigned or optimized the hinge. However, it seemingly failed to reduce the gap between the two halves of the phone when it’s folded. Based on the dimensions, the Fold 6 has a gap of 0.9mm, while it’s 1.1mm on the new model. Or maybe this has something to do with the rubber bumpers around the display.
Nonetheless, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be the foldable of dreams. Not just slimmer, but the device is also expected to feature a less visible crease and industry-leading cameras, headlined by a 200MP sensor. We also get the most powerful Android processor in the form of an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung may unveil the Fold 7 and Flip 7 in the first half of July.
