Samsung’s May 2025 update is now widely available for the Galaxy S25 series in the US. Following a limited rollout for carrier-locked units on select networks last week, the update recently hit unlocked units as well. Users in other regions should soon get this May release. Other Galaxy devices will also get the May update in the coming days.
Galaxy S25’s May update is available for unlocked Galaxy S25 units in the US
Samsung was expected to roll out a major update to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in May. The company has been working on camera improvements and more upgrades for the new flagship lineup. Unsurprisingly, this got fans excited, more so after the April update introduced several One UI 7 enhancements, including new charging animations.
However, Samsung has now delayed the latest feature release for the Galaxy S25 trio. The May update started rolling out last week, and it only brought the latest security fixes. Unlocked units in the US are picking up the same changelog, reconfirming a security patch. Samsung has yet to publish the patch details for May 2025.
Well, the OTA file size is relatively large — 670MB for locked Galaxy S25+, and 665MB for unlocked S25 Ultra. This suggests additional system optimizations behind the scenes. However, don’t go deep looking for new features or other goodies. Samsung seemingly hasn’t bundled any here. As mentioned above, we are also still awaiting details on Samsung’s May security patches.
Nonetheless, this update should soon hit Galaxy S25 units worldwide. Users in the US are receiving the May patch with the firmware version AYDF. The build number may vary depending on the model number and region, but the content should remain unchanged.
