Samsung is on a roll today. After releasing One UI 7 for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and S23 FE, the company is rolling out the big update to the Galaxy S22 series. This comes amid a global expansion of One UI 7 for a bunch of other devices. It may soon release the update for additional models.
One UI 7 is now rolling out to the Galaxy S22 series, starting in Korea
Depending on the market, Samsung has around 80 different Galaxy smartphones and tablets to update to One UI 7 (fewer in some regions). Over the past few weeks, it has rolled out the update for nearly 20 devices. Add the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra to the list, as these 2022 flagships are now getting One UI 7 in Korea. Other eligible models should join the party soon.
The Korean Galaxy S22 units are getting this update with the build version FYD9. It’s a 4.4GB OTA package ( the size varies depending on the model and region) containing the April 2025 security fixes. This month’s security release from Samsung addresses over 60 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.
However, this update is more about One UI 7 than the April patch. One UI 7 brings a visual overhaul to your Galaxy smartphone, with Samsung introducing smoother system animations and subtle UI changes to enhance your everyday smartphone experience. The Korean firm has also improved many existing features and introduce new ones across the camera, Samsung Health, and more.
Additionally, One UI 7 contains AI-driven features powered by Google Gemini. The Galaxy S22 lineup may not receive the latest Galaxy AI tools, but this update still brings plenty to your phone. Samsung will also release One UI 8 for the 2022 flagships, with the update expected later this year. It will be the final major OS release for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra.
