YouTube has long been the top destination for video content. Millions scroll through it daily, either to stay in the loop or indulge in some nostalgia. YouTube also offers a Premium subscription that comes with perks like ad-free viewing, background play, and more. There are several tiers to choose from, but if the solo plans don’t quite fit your needs, you might want to check out YouTube’s new two-person Premium subscription.
YouTube is now testing Two-person Premium plan in India, France, Taiwan and Hong Kong
According to Moneycontrol, which first noticed the change, YouTube is currently testing a new Two-person Premium subscription option in select regions. These include India, France, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The plan lets you share a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium membership with one other person in your household. That could be your flatmate, sibling or partner. It is a simple way to get the same perks at a lower price when two people want to share.
“We’re experimenting with new ways to provide greater flexibility and value to our YouTube Premium subscribers, including offering a two-person Premium plan option, allowing two people to share a subscription at a reduced cost,” a YouTube spokesperson confirmed to the outlet.
In India, the new Two-person YouTube Premium plan costs ₹219 ($2.60) per month. YouTube Music Premium for two is available for ₹149 ($1.77) per month. By comparison, an individual YouTube Premium subscription in India is priced at ₹149. If you are planning to split the bill, the two-person plan offers a clear advantage.
This could be a welcome addition for people who live together but do not need a full family plan. It is more affordable, more flexible and feels better suited to how many people actually use the service.
Do you think YouTube should bring this option to the US?
