You Can Soon “Ask Gemini” By Just Selecting Text on Galaxy Devices

Tinkering with AI chatbots like Gemini is not only fun but also a great way to learn about a particular subject. There are a couple of ways to access Gemini right now, but what if there were an easier way to ask our queries? Well, we might soon get our answers at the tap of a finger. Yep, just by selecting text and tapping “Ask Gemini.”

You’ll soon have more straightforward ways to ask Gemini out for anything, literally

The folks at Android Authority discovered this functionality while digging through the Google app v16.8.31.sa.arm64 beta. It’s called Ask Gemini, and it does exactly what its name suggests. In this beta version, when you select some text you want to learn more about and tap on the three vertical dots, you’ll see a new floating option labeled Ask Gemini. Tapping on it takes you straight to the Gemini app, where it searches for the selected text.

Additionally, the source has shared a 30-second clip, which you can watch by heading over to Android Authority. In the video, AssembleDebug demonstrates the feature by selecting a headline and testing its functionality. Gemini responds to a header with a comparatively longer answer, though it doesn’t provide much solid information. That said, the feature could be more useful for asking about specific phrases or sentences, where it might generate a more meaningful explanation.

According to AssembleDebug, Ask Gemini works well on Chrome, Firefox, and Samsung Internet and should function in most apps. However, since some apps have different text selection menus, it may not work everywhere.

One thing to keep in mind is that this functionality is currently available only in the beta version, so you won’t be able to try it on your phone just yet. Another point worth noting is that Google hasn’t officially confirmed the feature, meaning there’s no release timeline for now. We’ll keep you posted when the feature goes live. Stay tuned.
