X is quietly rolling out an updated Android interface, but the release still appears to be quite limited. We haven’t been able to try the latest version yet. But based on what we’ve seen so far, X has added a simple toggle in the main Android app that lets you switch between the classic UI and the new experience whenever you like.

Here’s how you can check if the updated X for Android is available for you

As highlighted by Abhishek Yadav on X, the option appears in the profile menu as “New X Android” with a beta tag. Tapping it brings up a short prompt explaining that the new layout has been rebuilt for better performance. X also assures users that they can switch back to the older interface at any time, although in rare cases you may need to reinstall the app to revert.

Abhishek helpfully posted clear steps on how to enable the UI in version 11.42.0-release.0 of the app. You can tap your profile picture, choose “New X Android,” select “Try it now”. And you should instantly move to the new design. Whether the toggle appears for you depends entirely on X’s gradual rollout.

Since the new UI is still in beta, some rough edges are expected. Some have already pointed out a persistent image-cropping issue that affects both the new and old interfaces. Images do not always show the cropped portion unless opened fully, which can be frustrating if you are trying to post something specific. Yadav also noted that some features are missing entirely, which is understandable at this early stage. Responding to the post, Attila from X said that “any feedback is appreciated”.
