Samsung is preparing to launch its first-ever slim flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge — potentially on May 13. Ahead of that, the company is rolling out the One UI 7 stable update to existing Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. Now, those waiting for the Galaxy S25 Edge are wondering whether the Korean firm will ship the smartphone with One UI 7 out of the box or introduce a newer version. We have the answer.
Galaxy S25 Edge should ship with One UI 7
Samsung launched One UI 7 alongside the Galaxy S25 series in January. Based on Android 15, this update introduces several new AI features, UI enhancements, and more customization options. Some of the notable features include Now Bar, Now Brief, Audio Eraser, and more.
The Korean firm recently revealed the complete One UI 7 rollout timeline for eligible Galaxy devices, giving us a clear look at its availability. Samsung doesn’t expect to complete the rollout until June. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Edge should go official in May, running the new version out of the box.
If you’ve noticed, all Galaxy smartphones launched in 2025 ship with One UI 7, including budget models. So, there’s no question the Galaxy S25 Edge will run an older version. And if you are hoping to see a newer version, something like One UI 7.1, there’s little chance of that happening as well. Samsung may not introduce a new version of One UI 7, as rumors hint at the arrival of One UI 8 in July or August.
Will the slim flagship include all the latest One UI 7 features?
The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to feature the same chipset as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, paired with 12GB of RAM. As such, it should support all the latest AI features from One UI 7. However, it may miss out on some camera features because of an inferior camera system. The Edge may sport a dual-camera setup featuring a 200MP primary sensor and an ultradwide camera. We will have to wait until next month to find out.
