Some of you might still be waiting for the One UI 8 update on your device. Those with newer flagships have already gotten it and are now waiting for the One UI 8.5 beta — the next big update and the return of the “.5” version. Unfortunately, there’s some bad news.

The One UI 8.5 beta program likely won’t arrive when we expected

According to Tarun Vats, the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series has been delayed. The tipster claims this is due to the Galaxy S26+, citing unnamed sources. Earlier reports suggested that the One UI 8.5 beta program would roll out in late November. But according to Vats, that now seems unlikely.

For what it’s worth, it looks like Samsung is dealing with some internal issues right now. This has already led to the cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge just a few months before launch, with the company reportedly deciding to revive the Galaxy S26+ instead. Whether the S26+ will borrow anything from the Edge lineup remains to be seen. Some reports also suggest a launch delay for the Galaxy S26 series, and one of them remains a bit questionable.

Galaxy S26+ is to blame, according to Vats

What we do know for sure is that Samsung has halted development of the Galaxy S26 Edge because the Galaxy S25 Edge didn’t meet sales targets. In other words, no matter how sleek those slim-edge phones look, they’re just not selling well. And that might explain why Apple is also cutting back shipments of the iPhone Air.

As a result, it’s looking less likely that the One UI 8.5 beta program will begin next month. Notably, Samsung hasn’t made any official statements about the One UI 8.5 beta yet, and even the list of eligible devices remains uncertain. Yet, the strongest contenders include the Galaxy S25 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
